2027 will see Chessington World of Adventures get a £50M Minecraft World land that has been officially announced today complete with an indoor Intamin multi-dimensional coaster themed around ‘the nether’.
The news dropped today regarding the new land and the collaboration between Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios who are working together on this project.
A £50M investment is a staggering investment in the UK and in particular the southern group of parks which are all receiving considerable investments with LEGOLAND Windsors 5-year-plan, Thorpe Park lined up for a brand new attraction and now this huge announcement complete with some very exciting concept imagery.
Inspired by the game’s most iconic biomes, mobs, and items, Minecraft World will bring the best-selling game of all time into the physical world for the very first time at a major theme park.
The land will feature new Minecraft-themed attractions, including a thrilling world first coaster, interactive adventures, epic block built playscapes, and themed retail and dining.

This is a very exciting time for the southern parks in the UK as Merlin really is ploughing some serious investment into these catchment areas in wake of Universal Studios coming to Bedford in five years time.
Strengthening their southern assets is a great way to offer more unique attractions for tourists who are going to be flocking in their masses to the Universal park.
With the huge investment that Merlin has undertaken in the new Galacticoaster ride and surrounding areas at LEGOLAND Florida and LEGOLAND California it’s clear what they are capable of with the right investment.
A price tag of £50M is quite staggering and I have no issues with stating that this will arguably be the most detailed theme park land featured within a Merlin theme park and I absolutely cannot wait to experience it myself when it opens next year!
