A new year and a new me as I’ve bit my lip about this piece of news for months now (since IAAPA) as a Megafobia retrack is in full flow for 2023 and has been officially announced today on their website.
In the summer of 2022 The Gravity Group began work on a $2M programme of retrack work for Oakwood’s famous wooden coaster, Megafobia.
Work started offsite in September, at the Gravity Group factory in Cincinnati, Ohio and it’s only in recent weeks that the team have arrived onsite to start the next phase.
40% of the roller coaster will be retracked including the first and second drops where brand new Gravity Group Vertical Engineered Track will be installed in both locations and both drops will also be reprofiled with the first drop being made even steeper as part of the project.
That was exciting to read as the first drop on Megafobia is the best first drop of any UK wooden roller coaster, no competition.

Track steel removals and laminate removals are well underway with replacement track to be laid in the coming weeks.
Work is expected to be completed in early May but they are reliant of deliveries still from both Europe and the USA.
