Maximus’ Blitz Bahn is set to be converted at Toverland as riders will have until May 17th to get in their last rides on this iconic ride.
Toverland announced this week that the incredibly fun ride would be heavily changed whilst still keeping its original charm. It will be converted into a swimming bobsled ride which will keep key features of the original, including allowing riders to control their own speed.
The new ride will open in the winter season and the ride has been developed in partnership with ETF Ride Systems.
Roy Janssen, Senior Manager of Engineering and Projects said:
“After 12 years of intensive use, the time has come to replace Maximus’ Blitz Bahn. Rodeling has always been an important part of Toverland, so we set out to find a replacement that would preserve the ride’s most popular elements. That led to the new ‘swinging bobsled’ concept, which we developed together with ETF Ride Systems.”

We will however be saying goodbye to the legendary curved bobsleigh chute as the swinging bobsled runs on conventional roller coaster track. The layout will remain unchanged along with the canopy so the ride can operate in all weathers but will include banked corners with the track tilting inwards on bends making the ride smoother and more intense.
I absolutely loved the original, it was such a fun experience and the speed you could reach was surprisingly rapid!
The ride will see some new vehicles where riders are sat in a two-person bobsled layout wth a nice rich steampunk style design as show in the concept artwork released by the park along with this very same announcement.
To mark the occasion of Maximus’ Blitz Bahn closing, Toverland will host a farewell celebration full of ‘Stimmung und Spaß’. Maximus Müller himself will also make an appearance.
