Could Alton Towers ride parts finally be available to the public after years of us asking for them?
This could very well be the case as today Alton Towers added a ‘Specialist Items’ section to the website.
Up until now the only limited edition items that guests could purchase were staff uniforms/costumes.
To celebrate the millionth launch of Rita Alton Towers put on a special sale for 10 limited-edition pieces of Rita rope (launch cable) mounted onto a special celebration display.
This is the first time in recent memory (outside of auctions) that items such as this have been sold on the Alton Towers online store.
Creating a special section of the website says that this certainly won’t be the last time that Alton Towers plans to sell off items like this.
Within the new section it reads:
Our most specialised, unique, limited and collectable items can be found here.
Produced few in numbers, (not thousands, hundreds or even tens in some cases!)
Our most exclusive items for the most serious of collectors!
These items are not expected to be around for long!
Expect ride parts, rare items, maybe unique theming or costume pieces (think masks from Scarefest etc) and even more limited edition opportunities.
There was also a survey sent out by Alton Towers a few months ago that outlined the return of VIP / unique guest experiences at the park.
We’re talking lift hill climbs, private tours, VIP park experience with tour guides and much, much more.
This also means that both the specialist items section and these VIP experiences will certainly be for those with heavier wallets.
So if you have the cash to splash you’re certainly in the right place!
Adding the speciality section to the website feels like the first step towards more limited and custom experiences/items that allows fans the chance to be even closer to Alton Towers than ever before.
So let’s take a look at the first item added to the specialist items section of the Alton Towers website.
Rita Launch Rope
Opened in 2005, Rita has been thrilling riders for over 15 years as they try to escape the Dark Forest….
On Friday 18th September 2020 Rita launched its 1 millionth journey!
To celebrate this massive milestone in the ride’s history the actual launch cable from the 1,000,000th launch has been sectioned and mounted to create a very limited edition commemorative board.
This piece is priced at £375 and it certainly made my eyes water when clicking ‘Buy Now’ but now I’m a proud owner of a piece of Rita, a ride I absolutely hate…
But at least I’m in a special group alongside 9 other idiots who paid an extortionate amount for a ride part!
A ride part that will no doubt be even more exclusive and collectible on that fateful day when Rita (to my joy) is demolished.
