Drayton Manor rumours are circling once again but we’re pretty sure the Shockwave one is a hoax but the Apocalypse one certainly isn’t.
The latest rumour is that Apocalypse and Shockwave rides (or just one) are set to be removed to recoup costs for the struggling Staffordshire-based park.
We imagine running costs for Apocalypse can quite high as the ride is certainly getting old but it’s a very popular attraction and Shockwave is a rare breed indeed being Europe’s only stand-up roller coaster.
After the recent lawsuit and the fact that Drayton Manor already has limited attractions, it’s worrying that this rumour has even arisen.
Hoax or not it’s safe to say if this was true then Drayton Manor would be going the way of Camelot theme park and would cease to exist.
Drayton Manor already feels like it’s in the weaker bundle of UK theme parks.
I feel as though without Thomas Land the park may have already met its demise long before now.
It feels as though that one IP is keeping the entire park open but with the removal of two colossal attractions to the park it could be catastrophic.
Well, three if you count the future sale of Pandemonium as that’s on the chopping block too!
It’s a scary thought indeed!
That sad news aside though their season passes are superb value and are well worth looking at.
If Apocalypse was to be removed along with Pandemonium then that area will certainly be big enough to warrant a real crowd-pleaser but it all depends on which direction the park would like to go in catering more to a family market currently than any form of direct thrill-seeking demographic as such.
Roll on that family coaster for 2023!
Out of the two rides Apocalypse is the firm favourite to leave the park with a late 2022 date in mind for its departure. It’ll be a sad day when it goes.
