Alton Towers Scarefest and even a trip to Blackpool’s Journey to Hell consisted of these smells. As a result the experience was even better for it. Darkest Depths a brand new maze at Towers had scents telling the story. We started in an old cabin (insert old cabin smell). We walked onto the ship (insert sea breeze smell). As we were under attack (insert vomit and grotty smells).
Even escape rooms are looking to adopt this brand new scent immersive technology. Reports are emerging that Paralysis Escape Rooms in Stoke on Trent will be one of the first escape rooms in the country to incorporate scents into their experiences.
How are the scents created?
A scent expert team designs the aromas specifically for each customer. Using essential oils and secret tricks the products are designed and manufactured.
The scents are also used in care homes as part of treatment for illnesses such as dementia. The scent recognition portion of the brain never deteriorates with the illness and so using scent recollection on patients is a wonderful way for them to recall familiar scents from their childhood or similar.
