After six years in operation, The Bear Grylls Adventure in Birmingham will close at the beginning of December as announced this morning by Merlin Entertainments.

The difficult decision to close the attraction was made after reviewing the data and considering Merlin’s strategic investments globally the attraction was deemed unviable due to commercial challenges with the pandemic being cited as a contributing factor which has had a lasting financial impact on the attraction.
Over the coming weeks, the animals within the attraction will be transferred to new homes including the nearby National SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham along with other UK SEA LIFE sites. This transition will be overseen by welfare specialists to ensure a smooth migration.
Merlin wrote in the announcement that their focus remains on Merlin’s ‘Gateway City’ strategy which includes significant new investment in Midlands attractions such as the recently opened Cadbury Chocolate Quest ride at Cadbury World and a new 60-room medieval-themed hotel at Warwick Castle.

It’s been a rough year for not just Merlin attractions in the UK but certain Merlin theme parks with Alton Towers having in what I feel is their worst season in recent memory.
Ride availability has been nothing short of catastrophic and guests have been very vocal online about how poor this year has been after a very promising start to the season with the opening of Nemesis Reborn.
One hopes that Merlin can steer the ship in the right direction and hopefully preserve the current crop of UK attractions without losing any more.

We always enjoyed Bear Grylls Adventure in Birmingham and every single time we visited whether it was a weekday or a weekend it was heaving with people having an incredible day full of activities including indoor skydiving, snorkelling, high ropes, shooting, archery, axe throwing and more! We were very fond of it in a previous review we did of the attraction when we were last invited!
Sadly we say goodbye to another UK attraction but feel free to check out our video below which includes a vlog from our last visit so you can see just how amazing this attraction was!
Farewell.
