Big Blue Hotel Deluxe Suite Review: A Home Away From Home

Big Blue Hotel Deluxe Suite Lounge

Opening in 2003 the beautiful Big Blue Hotel has some of the best theme park views of any hotel in the country, it was an absolute pleasure to bring you this Big Blue Hotel Deluxe Suite review.

The Deluxe Suite at the Big Blue Hotel is the height of theme park indulgent luxury.

All suites at the Big Blue Hotel are located on the top floor of the hotel and all have a Juliet balcony offering views into the Pleasure Beach.

Corridor Big Blue Hotel

Looking more like an apartment than a hotel room the room opens up to a corridor with a choice of four doors.

It’s all very mysterious and my curiosity is piqued as to what hides behind those doors.

Let’s dive in shall we?

En-Suite Bathroom

The large en-suite bathroom (the first door on your right) has an extra deep bath, a walk-in, a stand-alone power shower, his and hers sinks and all the quality toiletries you could ever need to really pamper yourself.

Algotherm products line the bathroom shelves and sides of the bath with a solid range of everything from combs to manicure sets, shampoo, conditioner and more!

A simplistic but classy feel to the bathroom and the walk-in shower was absolutely wonderful with a nice strong pressure and easy to adjust temperature dial.

Just outside of the bathroom was a towel rail switch that when flicked would toast your towels up.

Nothing quite says comfort like a freshly toasted towel wrapped around you after a nice shower on a cool winters day in Blackpool.

Bedroom

Big Blue Hotel Deluxe Suite Bedroom

The bedroom (first door on your left) consists of a luxurious king-size bed dressed with modern, contemporary fabrics, LCD TV with Freeview channels and plenty of storage space for the well-equipped visitor.

I was absolutely lost in the king-size bed as me and Jo felt absolutely miles apart from each other. At one point in the night, I stretched out as wide as I could and I still couldn’t find her!

The pillows weren’t the comfiest but after a long day in Blackpool, I soon sank into them and had a wonderful nights sleep.

On the vanity desk, there were a few CDs and DVDs of the Hot Ice show at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. It’s not really my thing but it’s nice to have for those die-hard Pleasure Beach show enthusiasts.

Ignore Hugsy, he doesn’t come with the room. He was a purchase from Friendsfest, the event we were in Blackpool for in the first place!

Lounge

Living Space

The lounge (second door on your left) contains contemporary suede-covered furniture, a contemporary fireplace, state of the art wide-screen TV with DVD player, iPod docking station and some extra special touches such as complimentary wine and water and a high-quality coffee-making machine.

Free wine is always a nice touch along with some nice complimentary water (that we ordered extra of).

The lounge was a great place to chill out and the furniture was very comfy indeed.

Coffee and Mugs

There was a kettle, coffee machine, shortbreads and even two Big Blue Hotel mugs (priced at £5.50 each on the Pleasure Beach online store) for us to indulge in and everything we needed was all in one room.

A Backgammon table was hidden up in the corner of the room but having never played before it wasn’t touched but a nice little game to play if you’re stuck inside for whatever reason is always handy.

What stood out to me about the lounge was the view. Blackpool Pleasure Beach in all of its glory, currently closed to the public (bar a few Winter Weekends events and upcoming Christmas celebrations) the park had an eerie haunting feel to it.

Big Blue Hotel View
A Room With A View

Very much the same vibe it has at Journey to Hell events and seeing staff members gathering around ICON made me excited, especially during the recent ENSO announcement ahead of the 2022 season.

The Big One was lit up at night and looked absolutely stunning and rather than closing the curtains I was happy to keep them open and enjoy the views.

Toilet

Deluxe Suite Toilet

The room comes with a separate toilet (second door on your right) which was very simplistic indeed.

Having to go to the toilet and then walk down the corridor to wash your hands was certainly a strange design choice but nonetheless, it’s there when you need it.

A very small room, nothing to shout about here although the Big Blue hotel stickers on the toilet roll was a nice touch.

Room Service

Big Blue Hotel Room Service

I was very surprised by how affordable the room service at the Big Blue Hotel was!

Usual pub/restaurant prices with most dishes in the £8-£12 range.

Nothing too expensive at all.

The service was quick and the food was piping hot upon arrival.

Jo had a margarita pizza and I had a cheese and chorizo quesadilla.

I personally thought the pizza was a little on the sweet side and the quesadilla was in severe need of some salsa or sour cream on the side but apart from that, it wasn’t bad food whatsoever.

Certainly, an affordable alternative should you wish to stay inside for the evening.

Overall

Big Blue Hotel Suite

From the friendly staff members to the absolutely incredible Deluxe Suite the Big Blue Hotel was the perfect Blackpool getaway.

The Boulevard Hotel right next door has only been open a year but there’s something about the Big Blue that has that charm and appeal to me over its younger brother.

The Boulevard suites seem more simplistic and modern but lack that cosy feel (for me) with very cold tones in contrast to the warming tones that the Big Blue delivers in spades.

With Pleasure Beach merchandise lining cabinets heading towards the lift it all feels like a home away from home.

Within 20 minutes our hotel room became our new home and we left it right until the death and checked out 10 seconds before our time was up (11 am).

An absolutely outstanding hotel and with a rather tasty buffet-style breakfast in the morning to cap off a magical stay.

The views, that room and an affordable overnight stay with unrivalled theme park views.

You’d pay double for rooms at other UK theme parks that don’t have the pleasure of a park view.
