Firefighters have tackled a blaze this morning on Blackpool Central Pier.
It is currently unknown what caused the Blackpool Central Pier fire but ten fire engines were on scene at 3am this morning to extinguish the blaze.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said:
The fire started halfway along the pier and involved a workshop and a ride.
Incident commander Mark Winder said: “Fortunately early firefighter action has extinguished the fire to the extent there is no visible flame.”
50 firefighters tackled the blaze and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze was quickly brought under control.
Nearby roads were closed for two hours.
In the pictures below you can see the extensive damage that the Blackpool Central Pier fire has caused.
It is said that a new ride has been damaged and the piers famous Waltzers ride has been completely destroyed.
A workshop was also destroyed in the blaze.
The pier was built in 1868.
