After long disputes about the future of the Blackpool South Pier Log Flume the Planning Inspectorate upheld a decision for the ride to be refused planning permission.
The committee already refused to grant permission back in September 2018 but the ride had temporary approval for 18 months whilst repair work was done at its former location on the pier.
Councillors said the ride “would detract from the character and appearance of the Prom.”
They even went as far as saying the ride could possibly affect jobs.
David Storrie, an inspector for the Planning Inspectorate said:
“Having regard to the above, adopted planning policy is not supportive of the proposed development. It does not fall within a location that would allow funfair rides. The siting, scale and design would also harm the setting of the non-designated heritage asset adjacent to the site”

The flume will be taken down immediately as a result. So we say farewell to the Blackpool South Pier Log Flume. It’s such a shame as horrific attractions like Strangest Things remain open in the town and this sadly has to go. This now means that there will be no log flume rides in the area outside of Blackpool Please Beach.
