Derren Brown’s Ghost Train REMOVED From Thorpe Park + New Cafe

Ghost Train Thorpe Park

News about as amazing as the day Alton Towers tell me Rita is being removed as Derren Brown’s Ghost Train is gone for good!

The brand new ride simply titled Ghost Train will feature no association to Derren Brown and will feature no VR headsets which dampened an already poor experience despite a very technologically savvy and rather smart ride system.

Thorpe had the following to say about the new ride on their website:

Depart the mortal world on a one-way ticket beyond the veil into darkness on THORPE PARK Resort’s newest ride experience – Ghost Train. But watch your tracks, death is always one stop ahead.

This next generation of Ghost Train will take you on a harrowing ride into the realms beneath THORPE PARK Resort to where the supernatural believers call home. Ghost Train is one of the UK’s longest ride experiences featuring live actors and multisensory effects to create a terrifying attraction like no other!

There’s nothing virtual about this petrifying experience, so prepare to meet your maker as you come face-to-face with horrors that dwell within.

A teaser has been released by the park which shows a glimpse of what is to come from the ride. Actors will still remain a part of the Ghost Train ride and we expect absolutely everything that was in the original ride (including the ride system) will remain the same or slightly changed to cater to the new storyline.

I hope that we don’t get the Victorian carriage to London Tube transition again, nor do I hope we have that awful getting off the train and back on it again rubbish.

A whole new experience, a whole new kind of ride utilising the same system and a whole new ghost train we can enjoy. That would be superb.

The ride is set to open this Spring and with work only taking place during December on this particular ride it’s clear that there won’t be any huge changes to the ride system or experience itself outside of maybe a few screens here and there.

We shall see what’s in store but I’m just glad that the VR headsets inside that building are now a thing of the past.

Derren Brown’s Ghost Train removed is probably the best headline I’ve seen this week. I’m still crossing my fingers for that Rita removed headline one day though, we can hope.

Final Call Cafe

Concept images (not final images) were also released by the park showing that the boarded-up sections we spotted last year is now going to be the brand-new Final Call Cafe set to open when the ride does.

Final Call Cafe Thorpe
Train station theming has been kept which indicates everything already inside the ride building will be very similar / kept. You can sit down and watch people run out of Ghost Train in horror!
