Viking Village, Viking Land, whatever the name of the new expansion at the Tamworth based theme park will be has had a new arrival. A Drayton Manor Zamperla Disk’O coaster has arrived on site confirming one of the rumours that was doing the rounds last season.
During the 2021 construction of Adventure Cove, it was noted that a Disk’O coaster had been purchased around the same time but as we never saw it those rumours quickly faded.
A Disk’O coaster has this week been spotted on the site of the new proposed Viking Village/area at Drayton Manor that is set to open this Spring.
Rumours went crazy mid-2021 about this Viking themed land which would see the addition of three new rides and a retheme of the parks iconic Buffalo Coaster.
The rides that were rumoured to be added to the area were a Zamperla Disk’O and a Zamperla Nebulaz (as part of a deal Drayton’s previous owners had with Zamperla that The Looping Group wanted to fulfil) in addition to a ride similar to George’s Dinosaur Adventure at Paultons and a sea serpent re-theme of the buffalo coaster.
The rides would all be linked to Norse mythology but rumours of the buffalo coaster being named after a sea serpent led me to my own research.
Discovering that there is only one mythical sea serpent in Norse mythology that is heavily linked to Loki we could have two confirmed names for the upcoming rides.
Thor, Odin, Heimdall and other Norse gods could also be other options with Thor naturally being the most popular of the lot and the most realistic in terms of a marketing strategy.
With the George’s Dinosaur Adventure ride the verdict is out on what guests could be sitting atop but a horse seems like the most logical choice with two Norse horse (technical term) name choices in the running including Sleipnir which was Odin’s 8 legged horse.

With the Drayton Manor Zamperla Disk’O Coaster arriving at the park one of our rumours is now confirmed!
It’ll be exciting to see if the others we have posted come to fruition in this highly anticipated development at the park.
The level of detail and immersion that Drayton Manor is aiming for here is certainly a huge step forward for the park.
Adventure Cove is absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to see what is in store for this new Viking themed land.

Update – On March 9th, 2022 CEO of The Looping Group Laurent Bruloy confirmed 3 brand new rides were coming to Drayton Manor in addition to a huge project in 2023 (rumoured to be a brand new coaster). You can read the article HERE
