Duel at Alton Towers Has Finally ReOpened Today

Duel Alton Towers ReOpens 2020

The popular indoor dark ride attraction Duel at Alton Towers has opened its doors once again today.

Perplexed by some of the decisions since reopening the park with added social distancing measures Alton Towers has today announced the reopening of Duel.

This indoor dark ride attraction was closed due to social distancing procedure (the park stated) yet Tomb Blaster at Chessington was able to open throughout this entire period and with those measures still in place even now, have today decided to open this indoor spooky attraction.

The park today confirmed the news on social media:

It’s safe to say Alton Towers haven’t had the best restart to the 2020 season with numerous complaints in regards to insane queue times, rides breaking down and more but slowly but surely things are getting back on track.

The new social distancing measures have been tricky for all parks to adapt to but some are certainly handling it better than others.

As of writing this very article the Wicker Man queue stands at just under two hours which is ludacrious.

Galactica. Oblivion, Rita, Spinball and The Smiler all stand at a 60 minute wait and Nemesis stands at a 40 minute wait.

With no fast track options and extended queue lines introduced ontop of the two metre social distancing rules the queue times won’t be coming down anytime soon even with the lower capacity that Alton Towers are allowing currently.

I think i’ll be holding off on my trip to Alton Towers for a few more weeks. It’s just a ridiculously long time to be waiting currently with many guests, vloggers and more complaining about the lack of rides they were able to complete in one day.

That doesn’t sound like an enjoyable day to me standing around in a queue.

On a positive note It’s great to see that Duel is now reopen as fans eargerly await news of another popular Alton Towers dark ride attraction that still remains closed, Hex.

In other news Thirteen is also still closed but Rita has now reopened.

  1. We went today. Definitely not lower capacity! Over 90 min waits for most of the rides… A disappointing and expensive day out!

    1. They have significantly reduced capacity but have slowly increased it over the last few weeks. The park still isn’t at full capacity but with how the queues are currently in addition to the extra measures, delays, cleaning, 2M spacing in queues it certainly isn’t worth going to any big park at the moment as you’ll just be stuck in queues all day. I’m sorry you had to go through that! Sean
