As part of the Efteling climate positive goals to achieve climate neutrality by 2030 the park has announced that it will be installing an additional solar array adding another 12,000 solar panels to the park.
The park hopes to become climate positive by 2032 and preserve the park for future generations, the fairytale theme park announced that the construction will begin in May 2023 and is expected to be in use in September 2023. The solar array will be approximately 29,200 m² big, which is equivalent to six football fields. Thanks to this, Efteling will be able to generate almost 35% of its electricity each year.
The solar array will be constructed in a nearby meadow, including the addition of embankments and hedgerows, which will be decorated with trees and plants to keep the panels out of sight. The soil that has been removed from the construction sites of Efteling Grand Hotel and the new Huyverwoud-themed area will be used to plant these trees.

The new addition of a solar array comes after Efteling installed its first 12,000 solar panels back in October 2022 on the carports in the car park and the roof of Symbolica park ride, bringing its total to 24,000 panels.
