Explore Fantasy Island’s Captain Jack’s Showbar and Castaways

Captain Jack's Showbar Review

Brand new for 2023 at Fantasy Island are two brand new spaces within the pyramid at Fantasy Island that offer wonderful drink/experience options. Let’s take a look at Fantasy Island’s Captain Jack’s Showbar and Castaways!

Captain Jack’s Showbar is the first of the two new spaces that we’ll explore in this article and it’s certainly my favourite of the two.

The theming within this space is spectacular, and the level of effort and detailing that has gone into this particular space is superb. The project began in November so the turnaround is very impressive indeed.

I’m a sucker for theming and I’m fully immersed in this pirate-themed space with entertainment being provided free of charge.

During our visit there was a free wrestling match on, the bar was absolutely packed when the show began and the bar was flooded with guests handing money over, it was great to see this new addition so popular.

With the 2022 additions including The Guardian and Harrington Flint’s Island Adventures and now two more spaces for 2023 the future is looking bright for Fantasy Island in both ride offering and entertainment.

Castaway Bar

Castaway Skegness

Castaway bar has a different vibe with a more chic and classy appearance. More adult and serious than Captain Jack’s. It’s nice to have a blend of both highly themed and immersed and more relaxed and chill.

Soft furnishings and cool tones spread through this newly refurbished space serving hot and cold drinks.

Simply scan a QR code at your table and the menu pops up. Pricing for both new areas was reasonable but food options were limited.

Castaways certainly feels very upmarket and much different to other offerings at Fantasy Island, it almost feels out of place compared to the rest of the venue but it weirdly works.

Step through the doors of a pirate-themed wonderland and you’re in Castaways. It’s a strange transition but one that I rather enjoyed.

The only downside for Castaway was that the name doesn’t fit with the aesthetic of the bar. You’d expect island theming, paradise setting, Tom Hanks maybe? But jokes aside, the name for me, just doesn’t fit the space that you’re surrounded in. Castaways feels like it should have that Walkabout bar kind of vibe and it just doesn’t. It’s much classier than that, it’s more Classaways than Castaways.

Out of the two, it’s a no-brainer that Fantasy Island’s Captain Jack’s Showbar wins for me as an immersive entertainment space but Castaways is that bar you’d go with your friends and hang out with good conversation and watch a game of sport on the big screens scattered around.

Both spaces are a much-welcomed addition to Fantasy Island and what a great job they’ve done with both of these new 2023 additions.
