Brand new for 2025 we have Lost Island Grill that has recently opened at Fantasy Island theme park in Ingoldmells as this little Rainforest Cafe inspired spin-off is a wonderful addition to the indoor pyramid section of the theme park.
Tucked beneath the queue for The Guardian coaster, Fantasy Island’s latest culinary escape swings visitors into a tropical, mood-lifting experience. Lost Island Grill cracks open for 2025 with a vibrant rainforest theme—lush décor, Jurassic Park-style vehicle nods, and playful, foliage-lined interiors that instantly transport you to an exotic jungle sanctuary complete with winks and nods to some iconic movies with the addition of a jeep door from Jurassic Park for example just hanging on the walls.
There’s a lovely vibrancy to the restaurant as you’re fully immersed in theming, set pieces and decor with the ceilings layered in camo netting to fully immerse you in the rainforest themed world Fantasy Island have created.
It’s a completely immersive sensory experience and the menu serves up all sorts of goodies from nice starters, pub classics and even a build-a-burger section.
I opted for a nice drink, potato skins starter and a burger with chips that came to a very reaonsable £14.
Now what I will say is that you shouldn’t be expecting Michelin star style food and whilst the food offering at Fantasy Island is usually very good quality I found my burger to be more on the Rustlers side of things as opposed to a nice hearty beef burger.
My potato skins on the other hand were amazing and my friends chicken was right up there with any Nando’s I’ve had for a fraction of the cost.
So it does look as though food is hit and miss within the restaurant but it’ll be tough competition to beat the Italian ‘Olive Garden’ restaurant that is located opposite Harrington Flint’s, that place serves some wonderful pasta with the Lasagne being my firm favourite.
I do also miss the old Jamaican food place that used to reside within the Pyramid, they served the best food on park until the strange decision was made to remove them from the park line-up (RIP).
Lost Island Grill has a whole host of alcoholic drinks available also and along with the atmosphere and extensive menu I’d certainly put Lost Island Grill right up there with some of the best creative dining spaces in the UK.
A solid menu mixed with fond favourites and theme park additions certainly expand Fantasy Island’s already extensive culinary line-up.
What I found incredible was that you weren’t paying extra for the privilege of eating within a themed space like what Disney do where they double or even triple the price of what their food costs just so you can eat in a themed space.
Fantasy Island has kept the menu reasonable (if albeit the steaks were a little pricey) but has maintained their high standards of theming and built a very welcoming and rather wonderful space for all the family to enjoy.
A great addition to Fantasy Island as they keep proving time and time again why their indoor space is one of the best in the country.
If I had control over that space though I’d certainly get rid of the arcade machines and free up even more room for attractions and themed experiences.
There’s a place for arcade machines but with how amazing that area is I just feel the arcade machines cheapen an otherwise wonderful indoor space.
