Today the wonderful Thorpe Park Passholders group revealed the first glimpse at some 2023 Ghost Train merchandise.
The newly released merchandise comes as part of a complete refurb that the ride is currently undertaking as Derren Brown’s Ghost Train is no more and the brand new ride titled ‘Ghost Train’ will open in 2023 with a new story, new effects and a whole new experience for guests to take part in.
Concept art for the ride was also released which shows ‘Thorpe Junction’ a brand new train station as part of the ride experience and in addition to that two sets of merchandise items have been unveiled.
Firstly there is Thorpe Junction merchandise which consists of a mug and T-Shirt. The T-Shirt has a classic design but doesn’t really blow me away and the mug has a very simplistic yet workingman-like design, like something a train driver would own and use on his daily shifts.
On the flip side of the Thorpe Junction merchandise, there is the ‘Believers’ merchandise range which includes a hoodie, a mug and a lanyard.
Believers Runes (which many will second glance mistaking you for a Justin Bieber fan) merchandise is a stark contrast to the Thorpe Junction merchandise with dark colours, emo-style skater-type graphics and quite a stand-out design with all three items giving me this MTV skater-boy vibe which I absolutely love.
The mug has a cork-style base which gives it a very hipster vibe and the hoodie looks well made and the sleeve design really pops. I’m just some black nail polish, an emo fringe and a My Chemical Romance CD away from completing the look here.
I really dig it!
It’s got such a stand-out design to it but their role in the story of the ride is currently unknown, they’re really doing things differently from what the ride was before with most of the ride being gutted completely in a recent behind-the-scenes video.
2023 is the year of dark rides and with the same company working on Curse At Alton Manor at Alton Towers and on the Thorpe Park Ghost Train, it’s a very exciting time to not only be a theme park fan but a dark ride fan!
