The coaster is said to be an exact replica of Altair at Cinecitta World, Italy. The image above shows the train design / lap bars rumoured to be featured on the Flamingo Land coaster.

This page will be updated over the next few months and you should get a nice little picture of the start to finish construction of this brand new ride. Hopefully, the last piece in this segment will be our very own POV of us riding it!

September 2019

Bits of track are being loaded onto trucks ready to be put into place. Track colour is red and the supports yellow but planning permission stated the track would be grey and the supports black. Very unusual. We’re not sure if it has been changed or if the ride will be repainted to the proposed colour scheme.

26th November- The first drop has now been added and this proves that the coaster will in fact have a steeper drop than Colossus and will be identical to that of Altair at Cinecittà World.

March 18th – Two out of the six trains continue to be used to test the track via a crane system going through every inch of the track. Opening date of the park unknown due to the ongoing COVID-19 issues facing the UK.

March 20th – Work stops altogether as Coronavirus pandemic forces government to shut down theme parks, cinemas, theatres, pubs and restuarants.

July 4th –  It’s certainly been a while and whilst no construction work has taken place on the coaster itself there has been a large water feature added to the area which adds fuel to the rumours that the ride will be pirate themed.

Flamingo Land Coaster 2020 Construction Update September 2020

September 2020 Flamingo Land Construction

September 22nd – After nearly 3 months of radio silence we can’t place an exact timestamp on the picture that was sent in above. No other work has commenced on site and no staff have been spotted working on the ride.

Flamingo Land New Coaster Map

No workers have been seen on site, no noticeable work has taken place and the ‘Opening in 2021’ sign on the Flamingo Land map has been removed along and no ride marker number (how Flamingo Land label attractions/shops/food outlets) has been added.

No painting of the ride has taken place and no further progress has been made since July, 2020.

The delay of the ride to be open in 2021 seems inevitable.

After months of no activity on site, a digger has been spotted working around foundations on the ride.

Work looks to officially be back underway but with the coaster being so far away from completion it is looking ever likely that a 2022 opening date will be unveiled in the months to come.

August 2021 Flamingo Land Construction

August 16th

There have been workers on site before August but today things look to be ramping up more steadily after the heavy delay.

Ground crews are on-site pouring concrete and working on the ride’s landscaping and other crews have been spotted working in and around the troughs around the Cobra Roll.

October 2021 Flamingo Land Construction

October 27th

Today ride manager Jay Burley told Your Harrogate that the coaster will be open in Summer 2022. Our first official confirmation of an expected opening date!!

January 2022

After what has been a very quiet few months on the news front there has been sightings of work taking place in and around the site but no more testing has been spotted of the coaster itself.

It is believed the coaster did not successfully pass its pull-through phase but this has not been confirmed nor has the resort spoken about the ride or its opening on any social media platforms up to this stage.

January 27th

INVERSION Flamingo Land

An email has been sent from kids pass stating the name of the brand new 10-looping coaster will be called INVERSION and the ride will be opening in summer 2022 but it is still believed to be a codename despite this release.

At the same time, a photo emerged on the Flamingopics group that shows that the entire track has been painted to the grey and black colour scheme. You can see that photo HERE

February 2022

Shawn from Theme Park Worldwide headed up to the park to bring us the most in-depth update as progress seems to be happening on-site with the ride receiving that much-needed lick of paint to its proposed colour scheme.

March 2022

Work on the new coaster is coming along with the track repaint nearing completion in addition to a modified station building.

New fencing has also been installed around the ride and it certainly feels as though ride testing is mere weeks away now!

April 2022

On April 12th a post was finally put up by the park that included the word SIK. This was also used again on another post that was shared on Easter Sunday.

SIK rumours have run wild with people thinking the ride will be called SIK (hopefully not, worst name ever) but it also could potentially be a sponsor of the ride.

Local clothing outlet SIK SILK is based in Scarborough and the very same company supply the park with uniforms. Could the ride have a sponsor before it launches?

Hopefully SIK The Ride won’t be the official name of the ride.

May 2022

With work going at a rapid pace, the ride vehicles have been painted blue, the pool foundations have been put down ready for the giant water feature and as of May 25th the ride is officially testing.

Check out this test footage below thanks to Theme Park Insanity.

There is another clip doing the rounds on social media where a water dummy fell off the ride… ouch.. not exactly the best advertisement for this ride but with the lap bars on the right maybe the dummy’s weren’t suitable for that particular restraint.

On May 30th Flamingo Land released the first test-run POV footage of the ride and you can see all the work that has taken place at a rapid rate over the last couple of months.

A name for the coaster is STILL unknown but links of the name being associated to the uniform sponsor / the Queen’s jubilee are certainly building.

  1. Do you think the colour will stay the same or have they got plans to change it once fully constructed? Looking forward to the reopening of parks too!
    Thanks for updates

    1. Hey Luke, I must stress i’m no expert I don’t have access to that kind of information BUT what I will say is that people at the park and on forums have all said that the planning permission included a different colour scheme than the yellow and red it is currently so yes, I would imagine it to be painted once fully constructed if that information is correct. Stay safe! Sean
