On the Hastings seafront lies The True Crime Museum. A world of the macabre where true crime throughout the ages is displayed for all to see. From Jack the Ripper to Football Hooliganism and Gangsters this place showcases the worst of the worst in a creepy cave environment.
Hastings True Crime Museum

Whilst at first glance of the website it seems as thou the museum is heavily focused on UK crimes I did spot a picture of Richard Ramirez (AKA The Night Stalker) posted up on there. Whilst UK True Crime history would be the aim of the game here it’s nice to see US True Crime history explored also. For some reasons unbeknownst to me, I find US true crime history to be far more interesting. The names are more notorious, the crimes more depraved and the psychological interest of their motives piques my curiosity more. Don’t ask me why!

After a recent expansion, the museum now has a gift shop and a check-in area. The gift shop selling books and souvenirs including mugs, pens and more. Perfect gifts for that true crime fan in your life. From looking at pictures on the internet the location looks rather small so to have an expansion seems to be a step in the right direction. Early photos of the expansion still look at little bare (empty corridors for example) but a few exhibits on the walls with a bit of theming and it’ll be up to scratch in no time!

The True Crime Museum also partners with various victim support charities. I think this is vital for an establishment like this. Some may suggest museums such as this glorify or even celebrate crime when in reality that’s never the case. The museum is simply showing a grisly history much like that of a history channel. Covering various gruesome details from our British ancestors. Crime is a part of history and true crime is always a subject of interest to many, many people across the globe.

Such items on display at the True Crime Museum include a genuine lethal injection bed, Kray Twin artifacts and the ACTUAL acid containers used by killer John George Haigh to dissolve his victim. I’d probably suggest going for your dinner afterwards rather than before visiting this particular attraction.
Overall

A museum I’ve had my eyes on visiting for quite a while now. An attraction that I’ve added to my 2020 visit list. Traveling from Stoke to Hastings is not a short trip! So due to the size of the venue, I’d imagine you’d be finished in 60-90 minutes. So if you’re planning a day trip I’d certainly include this one in the list (like I have) and add some other attractions in the local area to make the trip even more worthwhile.
I’m very much looking forward to visiting this little True Crime gem.
