It’s with great sadness that we head the news that the iconic horror Crypt in Blackpool is set to close its doors for good. At the end of this month the Horror Crypt will cease to exist. This retro horror attraction full of animatronics and set builds was a staple point of Blackpool’s horror scene along the iconic Pasaje Del Terror. Sadly, as many attractions lean towards actor driven scares the retro attractions such as Horror Crypt sadly fall by the wayside.
Run by Kurt Ryan who is one of the most passionate horror enthusiasts i’ve had the privilege of speaking to. It’s not all bad news thou however. Kurt is currently looking at a more central location for a brand new horror attraction. An opening date for this upcoming attraction is not yet known.
Once a set used by The Killers for their Here With Me music video and a few well known TV productions. Horror Crypt will be missed. But as another favourite band of mine famously once said, thanks for the memories.
I absolutely loved the walkthrough. Greeted at the entrance by production used movie props and memorabilia from horror movies. You then ascend the steps to animatronic heaven. There were many photo-ops to be had! It makes me wonder if all of these animatronics will be incorporated into the new venture. Perhaps with a modern twist.
