I was greeted at Manchester train station by my driver Kevin who held a plaque board with my name on at the taxi pick-up point of Manchester Piccadilly train station. I was walked to the car and was met with some complimentary bottles of water.
My journey was a short one with the Gotham hotel about a 10 minute drive (if that) away but I wanted to experience this service to bring you this very review.
Kevin was polite and I was very impressed by just how clean and plus the interior was. That classy Bentley stying was on full display but the comfort of the seats were further complimented by Gotham branded cushions. I really didn’t want to leave the car when it pulled up and that’s exactly how a driver service should feel.
I couldn’t help but notice everyone who spotted the Bentley having a quick glimpse inside the back seat to see who was in there. Their eyes met with disappointment when this nobody was just sitting there with my sunglasses on soaking up a rare British sunny day.
Hotel Gotham is class from top to toe and is easily my favourite city centre hotel in Manchester but I will say that from Manchester Piccadilly to the hotel was very expensive. I was charged £45 for a very short journey and whilst the experience to me was priceless (my first time in a Bentley) I think that’s a bit ridiculous for such a short journey.
A chauffeur company called Blacklane who operate in Manchester charge half of that but instead of a Bentley you get a nice S Class Mercedes or similar.
I can only imagine with longer journeys that the cost somewhat evens out to a more reasonable rate but I did think £45 was very steep as I clutched onto not one but two bottles of complimentary water in a thinly veiled attempt to recoup my money. I knew I should have stolen a cushion too!
If you want that luxurious experience or to tick ‘riding in a Bentley’ off that bucket list then I’d highly suggest a Hotel Gotham Bentley chauffeur option with your booking. I’d just book it to somewhere a little further than the train station, the Trafford Centre would be a good trip option I’d say!
