A spontaneous trip before lockdown to the Manchester Christmas Markets led to a few too many Irish coffee’s, mulled wines and a missed train home. So we got a place to stay for the night and here’s my Hotel Gotham Manchester review.
I have read many things about this hotel and my inner nerd piqued at the thought of it being linked in any way shape or form to Batman.
Far too excited at this thought we rang the hotel at the very last minute and by some grace of god we managed to get a room for the night, sadly we were too late to get the Gotham Bentley to come and pick us up but we still managed to get a room at this incredible hotel at the drop of a hat.
Hotel Gotham

Open since 2015 Hotel Gotham sits in the heart of mid-town Manchester.
A fantastically located hotel that is just around the corner from the Arndale Centre and within an earshot of all major shops, fashion boutiques, bars and more.
Hotel Gotham stands out from the crowd with its grand listed building standing majestically amongst the Manchester skyline.
Being a boutique 5-Star hotel there are only 60 rooms in the establishment which made me even more surprised when we got the last-minute booking on a Saturday night the day before the Manchester derby.
Upon walking through a very unusually small entrance and straight into a lift there is a weird sense of fun that oozes throughout the building.

From the unique furnishings, decor and atmosphere it’s a strange little world that Hotel Gotham projects as a first impression.
Even the way the staff members dress is very old fashioned, very unique and an experience in itself.
It almost felt like we were being cast into a very strange theatrical production.
We were greeted by Neil at reception who is without a doubt one of the most pleasant and friendly people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Neil went above and beyond to make sure our welcome was memorable and even offered to get us a lift to the Trafford Centre that same evening.
It’s been a while since I’ve had such a warm reception at a hotel check-in.
If you ever stumble upon this review one day Neil, we’d both like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our entire day.
Walking away from check-in with a huge smile on our faces was a lovely bonus as we headed to our room.
The Room

I’ve stayed in many hotel rooms before but never one like Hotel Gotham.
As we walked in the room a faux fur shawl laid across the bed, vintage ornaments, trunks and strange room accessories were also sporadically littered around our funky little bedroom.
Inside a very intimidating leather trunk wardrobe, we found a pink interior wine case, mini-bar and some naughty little treats.
Aside from a sleeping kit, hangover repair kit and another night pack was a couples box containing all sorts of unique 50-Shades style accessories for a kinky night to remember.
This was certainly a unique addition to our already unique room and a product that brought a few giggles upon its discovery.
We’re so mature.

From the decor inside the room, the beautifully designed bathroom, the furnishings, the leather bed head and the chains hanging from the roof holding our pictures, there is a real sense of naughtiness littered throughout.
Very tongue-in-cheek and not overly obvious or in your face.
The desk was littered with such weird artefacts such as pineapple book-ends and a Gotham Bugle which was a hotel themed newspaper with strange articles, room service lists and more.

We felt catapulted into a world that never felt like it takes itself too seriously which is a nice feeling within a 5-star hotel.
The hotel keeps its 5-Star quality but never felt snobbish or arrogant.
The Experience

The second you step inside Hotel Gotham you feel like Manchester and the outside world no longer exists.
You’re now in Gotham’s own little world where gothic meets art deco meets kinky quirky charm.
Rather than an overnight stay Hotel Gotham it’s more of an experience.
From its fragrant hallways to its modest opulence, Hotel Gotham provides an obscure yet wonderful home away from home.
If you have the cash to splash you can also treat yourself to a Bentley chauffeur to drive you all around the city in style.
Sadly we didn’t get time to check out the restaurant or the exclusive members/guests bar Club Brass but if the rest of the hotel was anything to go by I’m sure they are both exquisite.
I hope you like this Hotel Gotham Manchester review!
