Is Duel Closing at Alton Towers?

Duel Closing at Alton Towers

The Duel ride as we know it at Alton Towers looks set to be closing, but what’s coming next?

All season speculation has been rife that the Duel dark ride at Alton Towers would be getting a refurbishment.

Props were seen at the entrance of the ride indicating some new changes, the rest of the ride hadn’t been cleaned up and things have been left when usually they’d be a quick fix, a sign that a big refurbishment or planned upgrade was upon us.

This week Alton Towers Haunted House FB page posted an image of a sign inside duel with the following written on it.

Duel Alton Towers 2022

06 + 09 = The Duel is Over

This is my House

The Duel is over would indicate that the laser guns will be removed from the attraction but the text underneath also indicates that the ride could potentially go back to its old-school roots of being a classic haunted house attraction.

Who’s house is it?

Are you reclaiming it?

The excitement is rife within the community as this treasured dark ride is in some serious need of TLC and if the date does coincide with a September closure it means that the ride will not be operating during the Scarefest season.

A real shame as a staple horror ride such as this is usually a must-experience around the Halloween season. If Hex is still down over Halloween it’ll mean two huge horror-themed rides will be out of action for this year’s event.

Only time will tell what the future holds for this dark ride but it’s great to see some movement happening at Alton Towers when it comes to its rides as it’s been very, very quiet on that front for a while now!

Duel Closing at Alton Towers may be the end of an era, but what would you like to see in that space instead?
