LEGOLAND’s Galacticoaster Is Giving Major Cosmic Rewind Vibes!

Galacticoaster LEGOLAND Florida

Galacticoaster is set to officially open at LEGOLAND Florida in just a few days time but a lucky few have already had the chance to hop onboard and check out this impressive new indoor roller coaster.

Reaching speeds of up to 40mph this ride will take guests on an interstellar journey through deep space as guests will fly amongst the stars and dodge floating LEGO bricks through the galaxy.

Here in the UK our Merlin offering is certainly watered down compared to overseas investment and just from looking at the photos kindly provided to us by the park you can see the level of detail and immersion that can go into such attractions.

There’s a wonderful little animatronic in the queue line, the entrance to the ride is sublime and despite a shorter ride duration than expected it really seems to deliver in the immersion department with many fans already saying it’s LEGOLAND’s version of Cosmic Rewind at Epcot.

Galacticoaster Customisation

Now keep in mind that Cosmic Rewind is the world’s most expensive roller coaster (costing an estimated $500M) that’s quite the compliment!

What makes Galacticoaster even more fun is that each ride experience is uniquely personalized through innovative RFID wristband technology, allowing guests to customize their own LEGO spacecraft across four build phases: nose, tail, wings and special features. With 625 possible ride combinations, guests would need to ride Galacticoaster every day for nearly two years to experience them all!

A job that I’m happy to commit to if they’ll have me!

One person that did get to experience the attraction already was Backstreet Boys’ Howie Dorough who went down with his family to check out the new attraction.

Dorough became the first celebrity to ride the highly anticipated indoor family coaster ahead of its public opening on Feb. 27.

The special visit coincided with the birthday of Dorough’s son, Holden, who celebrated his 13th birthday with an out-of-this-world family adventure inside LEGO® Galaxy, the Resort’s all-new immersive area inspired by space exploration, creativity, and discovery.

Dorough, his wife Leigh, and sons Holden and James spent the day exploring the intergalactic new space, which features interactive experiences, cosmic-themed LEGO® builds, and the headline attraction,

“It took me by surprise, that’s for sure,” said Dorough. “We love LEGOLAND! It’s good for families.”

From B-Roll footage released by the park of the family riding it you can see the punchy launch of this ART Engineering coaster which throws the family back in their seat as they’re catapulted into space.

It looks so much fun and they’ve really gone above and beyond with this attraction to make it enjoyable for every single member of the family, not just the little ones and that’s what LEGOLAND is all about, a place where kids can kick back and enjoy and for the adults to indulge in their inner child.

Officially opening to the public on Feb. 27, Galacticoaster is the flagship attraction within LEGO Galaxy and represents Merlin Entertainments’ largest single investment in LEGOLAND Parks to date. The ride also marks the first indoor coaster ever built inside LEGOLAND Florida Resort.

Beyond Galactiocaster, guests can explore hands-on attractions, including the Junior Astronaut Training Zone, a DUPLO®-inspired play area, interactive experiences, Orbit Outpost, a space-themed retail experience packed with out-of-this-world finds, along with galactic-themed food and beverage offerings designed to fuel every space mission.

Galacticoaster looks like a solid investment for the park and kicks off the first major roller coaster opening worldwide to jump start the 2026 season.

Hats off to ART Engineering and LEGOLAND for truly bringing something special to the park, it looks bricks of fun!
