Lightwater Valley Acquired by Mellors Group

Today it has been announced that Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park has been acquired by Nottingham-based, family-owned Mellors Group.

Mellors Group are renown for breathing life back into attractions much like how they’ve completely transformed the now award-winning Fantasy Island in Skegness to what is arguably one of the countries best leisure destinations with their indoor pyramid area being the most immersive and well-rounded indoor attraction in the country in my opinion.

The Mellors family visiting Lightwater Valley often as children and are looking to breathe new life, new energy and significant investment into the adventure park.

New rides and attractions are set to debut in 2026 but these have not been confirmed or announced at this stage.

I imagine to begin with the Mellors Group will add one or many of their travelling rides to the parks line-up just to give it something until permanent rides are added as time goes on.

A very interesting statement that was released today said that whilst the park will continue to cater for younger families and guests under 12 the company aim to broaden the appeal for all ages which is certainly a statement that interests me greatly.

James Mellors, Managing Director of Mellors Group, said:

“Lightwater Valley is a park with real heart, history, personality, and potential, and it’s a place our own family has loved since childhood.

We’re incredibly proud to be taking on its future. Our goal is simple: to put the park back ‘on the map’ as a major theme park, by introducing new rides, injecting new energy, and creating something truly special for families for many years to come.

We’re very excited about this acquisition and looking forward to planning a wide range of new attractions for 2026; fresh, fun, and full of excitement.

While Lightwater Valley will continue to be a haven for younger families, we’re also widening the experience so that guests of all ages can enjoy the thrills, charm, and adventure together.

The team here have done a brilliant job, and we’re looking forward to working closely with them as we begin this new journey.”

A very exciting future for Lightwater Valley that was originally established in 1969 and now home to more than 35 rides.

The park once had Europe’s longest roller coaster (it was the world’s longest when it opened in 1991) named The Ultimate but sadly that coaster has now been dismantled.

Would they dare to revive such a record?

Let’s see.
