NEW Southport Pleasureland Thunderbolt Coaster Announced

Thunderbolt Coaster

Plans have been announced for the new Southport Pleasureland Thunderbolt roller coaster.

This brand new ride will be 35 metres tall and would be built along Marine Drive coast road.

Southport Pleasureland has also recently submitted plans for another 35-metre high attraction which will be a high observation wheel next to Marine Lake.

The roller coaster will take people on bends and loops at speeds of up to 90 kilometres per hour and if the plans are anything to go by a nice vertical lift will be added to the ride also.

The ride will fit along a narrow plot measuring 260m x 15m and plans have been drawn up by local firm RAL Architects.

This attraction will provide a wonderful addition to Southport Pleasureland and with it being such a tall attraction it should really bring in the guests to sample the new thrill-seeking addition.

As it stands the colour of the ride will be white structures with an orange track.

A new ride means that six new full-time employees will be hired at the resort.

The Southport Pleasureland Thunderbolt plans look very ambitious and would make for a great addition to the park with the only other thrill-seeking coaster on the park being ‘Roller Coaster’ the rather rickety Pinfari steel coaster.

If the Thunderbolt is set to resemble the Zamperla steel roller coaster that resides at Coney Island in New York then guests are certainly in for a treat.

The ride has a length of 2,234 ft, a height of 115 ft and a top speed of 56 mph. It begins with a Vertical Chain Lift Hill and a 90.0° first drop.

Guests will experience 4 inversions; a 98 ft tall Loop, 82 ft tall Zero-G Roll, Dive Loop and a Corkscrew.

With the wheel and the coaster currently awaiting planning permission in addition to the Viking pub and golf course announced the future is looking bright for Southport Pleasureland.
