It was recently announced that a whopping €250m would be spent on France’s second biggest park Parc Astérix. These plans are a major transformation for the park and the details of which we will go through and outline below.
Hot off their new roller coaster Cétautomatix opening this year and not only that winning the prestigious ‘Top European New Attraction’ prize at the Parksmania Awards 2025 they’ve gone full throttle in outlining the next few years of projects (up until 2030) and there are some very exciting stuff indeed including a new restaurant, new attractions, new areas and even a brand new hotel!
Let’s dive into them shall we?
2026 Plans for Parc Astérix
2026 will see the transformation of the Egypt area of the park along with the re-theming of the Oxygénarium attraction, which becomes The Descent of the Nile. This rapids raft ride was great fun when we visited the park and seeing it merge into the Egyptian theme will be much welcomed as it looks very much out of place within the outer-circle of that land currently.
The Les Chaises Volantes waveswinger also located nearby is going to become The Flight of Ibis and the Le Cirque restaurant will become Le Comptoir d’Epidemaïs as the land will feel much more expanded and well-rounded with these subtle but needed changes.
2027 Plans for Parc Astérix
A new area will be created in the Greek zone complete with two brand new family attractions, a playground and a restaurant named La Table de Dyonisos. This restaurant will have a capacity of 450 seats but no further details have been revealed regarding this particular food outlet other than the concept art shared with us kindly by the park.
If you click on the land image on the left you can see the two new family attractions planned with one being a small kids bouncy tower (similar to Windmill Towers at Paultons Park) but no manufacturers have been confirmed albeit Zierer do manufacture very similar rides.
2027 will also see a brand The Odyssée Hotel open which will be a 4 star hotel with 300 rooms with a variety of themes inspired by Asterix and Obelix’s travels in the East.
The hotel will consist of four areas with Persia, Mesopotamia, Egypt and Phoenicia being a heavy focus.
Londinium – 2028 Plans for Parc Astérix

Whilst the previous plans are all very exciting thrill-seekers will certainly feel that 2028 at the park will be the most-anticipated with the introduction of a brand new immersive roller coaster as the theme park are getting themselves their very own indoor multi-dimensional coaster from Intamin along with an interactive family dark ride, playground, pub and shops.
This new land named Londinium will have some familiar sights in store for Brits has this British themed area plans to create an extra 20% additional capacity at the park with two-thirds of the land being entirely indoors reducing dependence on weather conditions.

Not too many details have been revealed in terms of specifications but we do have a lot of concept images showing you what the experience will be like as guests will fly around some very British sights with a few twists and turns (quite literally) up their sleeves.
The dark ride concept art also seems to show guests going through Camden Market and Camden Lock and a quick zoom into the concert arts shows that guests will be shooting things as they navigate the ride.

I’m also very much looking forward to seeing the pub and seeing what quirky and unique Parc Astérix tongue-in-cheek humour they can conjure up within this exciting new area!
It’s a staggering amount of money for the park to spend but a very exciting time for visitors who are looking to plan a trip to this park. Very exciting times indeed! If only our own UK parks released something this exciting for us all to look forward to over the next six years.
Sadly, it’s not meant to be.
