I’ve been home all of ten minutes, threw my laptop open and had to rant and rave about how good Pat Collins funfair is!
So we headed down to Stafford Common to check out yet another local funfair.
I’m just glad that we now have places to go to after what has been a horrible period of our countries history.
It’s time to get back into the swing of things and in this case, swing (or more to the point, spin) was the theme of the day.

From the classic Pat Collins trucks to a really impressive selection of rides I was a little taken aback by what rides were on offer in such a small area.
From a Fighter ride to a Super Star and even the insanity that is the Tagada this was already head and shoulders above anything else i’ve seen in the local area in terms of variety.
Naturally, the classic dodgems and waltzers were there, not to mention a matterhorn style ride, a Sizzler and a few more kids rides but the big-boy rides were impressive indeed.
Costing £2 a ride (2 tokens) we used them wisely and a Matterhorn, Super Star, Sizzler, Fighter and Tagada ride later we were done.
My head was spinning, my southern fried chicken wrap was aching to resurface but I didn’t care.
The rides were so well maintained with the Super Star having one of the comfiest harnesses I have ever had the privilege of sitting in.
What an absolutely insane machine that is!
If I had any gripe I’d say the ride cycles went on for quite a long time so if you’re a little queazy then you may have to suffer much longer than you have to!

The atmosphere was great, the second the funfair opened at 5pm the park was full.
Now I remember at Winter Wonderland Stoke when they opened at 3pm and for two whole hours we had the place to ourselves, whilst that is great for me, it’s not great for the poor showmen who are losing money by the hour.
It was great to see it absolutely full the second the clock hit 5pm and the queue for tokens was insanely busy but they were flying down in no time.
Pat Collins certainly knows how to put on a show and I loved every second.
I want to give a big shoutout to the ride-op on the matterhorn as he was one of the friendliest blokes i’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
Top man!
