Reading through Lift Hills and Thrills you may think that I share a bias towards all things Blackpool. Whilst it’s true I love the town to death it’s also so varied in its fun attractions. Even in London, the variety is more slim pickings or it’s stretched over such a long distance that it’s not easily accessible. Blackpool has attractions in spades and one of my personal favorites is Ripley’s. look inside.
Ripley’s Believe it or Not Blackpool

There are not many places in the country that house vampire killing kits and shrunken heads all under one roof. The world of weird that is Ripley’s Believe it or Not is a whole curiosities museum of strange artifacts from across the world.
From giant balls of string to the smallest production car in the world everything weird and wonderful is all contained within. The attraction isn’t small either. Located over two gigantic floors Ripley’s is like a maze. Packed full of incredible exhibitions and interactive elements throughout. If only Ripley’s did overnight stays, I’d be in my element surrounded by such unique objects.

Whilst Ripley’s isn’t just for curious adults it also contains enough interactive elements and displays for children too. The cheesy soundtrack that plays throughout each area certainly brings a more fun tone to proceedings when the items displayed aren’t always so cheery.
You can easily spend an hour or two inside here and not get bored. There’s enough information about each item to keep your mind occupied and your interest piqued.
Overall

If you’re a fan of all things weird you’ll absolutely love this place. For an attraction such as this, you’d assume the price tag would be steep but at £7 per person (children even cheaper) this place is a steal! With a gift shop at the end packed full of goodies, you’ll be sure to come home with something weird of your own. Ripley’s also has an online store selling such things as oddities books, DVDs and more.

Whilst Ripley’s is a world-wide attraction it’s a shame their gift shop doesn’t sell their own oddities to take home. I’m not saying they should be selling take away Shrunken heads but a little skull or unique item or similar would be cool. When we visited Viktor Wynd’s Museum of Curiosities earlier this year they had an oddities cabinet. Absolutely full to the top with weird and wonderful objects you could take home with you. If Ripley’s incorporated this I think they could tap into a whole new market, a niche market, but a market nonetheless.

Blackpool certainly is the home of all things entertainment. I can’t think of one time I’ve been to Blackpool and have been bored. There are still many attractions within the town I haven’t visited. The Blackpool Dungeons being one of them. Next year will bring a whole new host of content to Lift Hills and Thrills and that attraction is certainly one on the list!
