Normally we get a whole load of emails year after year of new mazes that are debuting at a variety of scare attractions up and down the country but not many of them really catch my eye in terms of theme or aesthetic, until now. Introducing Shellton Motel scare maze.
Doncaster Fear Factory have announced Shellton Motel which will mark the scare events biggest, boldest and most terrifying attraction yet.
Three times the size of The Pogo Club, a maze that was closed down at the end of 2024 this brand new maze will feature a two-story model facade with immersive staging, 18 smell machines, 28 live actors, show controlled lighting and FX and even a food outlet that will continue the storyline beyond the screams.
I absolutely love the idea of finishing a scare maze and as you leave you’re still immersed in the story, I hope it’s a nice well themed courtyard area or even something nice set-up in the Motel parking lot, that would be a really nice touch!
The story revolves around a police report that has been released from the Connecticut Police Department about a dangerous individual who has escaped and was last seen near the notorious Shellton Motel.
Guests are warned to stay in their rooms, lock the doors as they are NOT safe.
The Shellton Motel will have lots of American winks and nods scattered throughout and we absolutely can’t wait to check it out when it opens later this year.

There’s a Shelton here in Stoke on Trent so seeing the name of the new maze made me chuckle because if it’s as much of a hell hole as that is, it’s going to be the most terrifying scare maze on the planet!
I’m also curious as to how the story will play out throughout the maze as we are only on the lookout for one individual yet there are 28 live actors included, will these be terrified guests of the motel or will there be something else afoot?
