The Attic Scare Maze Returning to Alton Towers in 2020?

Attic Terror of the Towers

Please note this is a RUMOUR and has not been confirmed by the park.

Various reports over the last few months have indicated that Scarefest was absolutely going ahead.

As one of the first outlets in the world to report this information it was then recently confirmed by Alton Towers with auditions for Scarefest announced by the park and auditions taking place for actors over the last few days.

Guests to the resort over the garden opening days reporting The Attic soundtrack music coming from the towers and smoke machines and sound engineers were also seen coming in and out of the building.

Today more fuel was added to the fire as set decoration images, new props and more imagery surfaced online.

Now we won’t be posting the pictures that have surfaced online out of respect to Alton Towers but we were sent images of the fully themed queue-line and interior of the maze all decorated and ready to go.

If the photos were taken by a member of staff or a very daring guest is yet to be revealed.

This could simply be the case of Merlin leaving the maze erected since last season (plausible) and the new props could be props from other mazes being stored within The Attic maze (also plausible).

Whilst it seems as though The Attic may make an appearance at this years Scarefest (why would so much work be going on up there?) it may also be being repurposed for an outdoor scare-zone or similar especially when it comes to audio / smoke machines.

It also begs the question as to what other mazes will return for this more socially distant 2020 Scarefest.

The Attic was certainly a maze I didn’t think would be returning due to the narrow corridors and smaller spaces so it may just be a case of being grouped together with your ‘bubble’ and going through the maze the same as you would before.

It also begs the question of how the scare actors will perform the scares as The Attic sequences were very in your face and close proximity.

Regardless of the images I’ll be taking this information with a pinch of salt as I certainly think scare zones instead of mazes will be a 2020 focus.

As with most of our rumours so far (except the Drayton Manor one that is yet to come to fruition) we’ve been pretty spot on.

Let’s hope we’re on the right track with this one!
