Thanks to Fantasy Island we were invited to come and check out the brand new immersive experience inside the Pyramid as we can finally bring you this The Guardian Fantasy Island review.
Whilst filming the on-ride experience is strictly forbidden to keep things a mystery we were allowed to shoot the queue line and the ride system but as far as the experience goes I won’t be sharing too much with you.
We shot the following video (see below) so you can get a good idea of just what The Guardian experience involves and so that you can see first-hand the incredible theming that Fantasy Island put into each and every single one of their indoor rides.
It feels as though the pyramid building is like a sanctuary for Fantasy Island’s creative team to let loose and create this absolutely beautiful environment for all the family.
You have your standard seaside arcades but the dark rides and other rides are so beautifully themed you’re really whisked away into the world the park has created.
The queue-line detailing is as good as any scare maze I’ve seen and feels so real and so immersive. It really means a lot to me as an admirer of theming when someone goes the extra mile to enhance a ride experience.
You have to keep in mind that The Guardian is a standstill attraction. It’s not a coaster, nor does it move or navigate outside of the building it’s housed in.
The fact that all of this effort has been put into the approach to the ride itself is astonishing and hats off to whoever Fantasy Island employ (or if its in-house) to make these truly beautiful pieces of art.
Fantasy Island describe The Guardian as follows:
Get ready for an EXHILARATING quest!
Be totally immersed in a world where every turn decides your fate…
Our latest attraction will require courageous knights from across the realm to take on the growing darkness.
Will you be able to survive the blazing adventure that awaits…?
The kingdom depends on YOU!
This certainly rings true and as you can see in the video the rumours and speculation that we posted many moons ago was correct, it was in fact a Robo arm experience but instead of VR headset attachments, we have a fully immersive flying theatre-style setup.
What I will say about the experience is that the screen quality/projector quality was poor. It was blurry and you couldn’t really make out certain events on screen.
A simple fix but one that detached me from the immersion.
The Guardian (despite that easy fix) is an outstanding addition to Fantasy Island’s indoor (and even outdoor) offerings. It’s great to see that it is a ride that’s not on rotation and is operating constantly and the park has something special there.

After some initial research and thanks to a few fans of the channel for messaging in, the ride was originally based around the Sony Dragon Age video game franchise.
Formerly known as Dragon Age: Flight of the Wardens in Dubai the ride was designed by Simworx who created this four-seat RoboCoaster based on Sony’s award-winning video game.
Guests experience an exhilarating journey from far-away Nathan where they are on a quest to save the Kingdom of Ferelden. The adventure takes the form of a thrilling aerial battle, dodging arrows, trees and a magical vortex, all projected on a large curved screen for a fully immersive experience. 4 seater.

There is also footage of the video doing a full 360 degree spin during the run-through which the Fantasy Island current version does not have. It’s great to know the ride can be re-calibrated and can change in intensity with customisable fun.
With a better quality screen along with a nice full 360-degree rotation this could be quite a little gem where the ride would compliment the quality of the queueline leading up to it.
