The Wave inland surfing attraction is the first of its kind in the country and now open in Bristol.
The Wave is filled with 26 million liters of water and consists of a variety of surfing zones. The waves can be altered to various varieties of difficulty to accommodate beginner to advanced surfers. The Bristol location is the first location open with another location being planned in London for 2023.
Nick Hounsfield and Craig Stoddar founders of The Wave wanted to create the venue to tackle mental health issues with the joy of surfing.
Nick said:
“It’s amazing to finally be able to show people what we have created and I’m unbelievably proud of our team who have got us to this point.
“Seeing our first riders today has made all the hard work well and truly worth it.
“I feel incredibly privileged and grateful to be part of this, as well as excited about the potential we have to bring greater health and happiness to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.”
Camping and additional attractions will be opening in 2020 around the lake site. A large restaurant outdoor terrace and a surf shop are already on site.
