After years of silence, it seems as though Thorpe Park 2020 will contain an online Shop.
After much speculation, today we stumbled upon a webpage on the theme park’s official page that confirms the rumours.
The text has since been changed but the original URL read as shop.thorpepark.com and the meta description read as follows:
The Thorpe Park online shop is officially happening it seems!
Whilst there are absolutely no details whatsoever on the page itself we’re ever so glad that Thorpe Park is finally joining other parks in getting an online shop.
People all over the country can order park merchandise from the comfort of their homes.
Perfect for the current situation we’re in.
I imagine that the online shop will contain exactly the same items as the park shop with maybe a few online exclusives thrown on there.
It is also unclear whether the Saw Store (separate from the standard Thorpe Park store) will be a part of the online shop.
It would be nice to have access to grab some Saw goodies in the weeks and months to come.
What items will be sold in the Thorpe Park Online Shop?
Colossus mugs and only Colossus mugs. Nothing else. Ever.
I’m just playing, the honest answer is, I haven’t got a clue!
We assume that the merchandise on offer will include the following though:
- Ride themed clothing
- Part themed clothing
- Keyrings
- Plush Toys
- Mugs and glasses
- Thorpe Park Monopoly
- Collectors Pieces
- Lanyards
- Top Trumps
- Resin Pieces
What would be nice is if Thorpe Park joined the likes of Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Oakwood Theme Park in selling ride parts.
Any excuse for me to own a piece of Saw the Ride!
I had email communication with a member of staff many months ago. When I asked about ride parts they told me to hold fire until 2020.
I wonder why?
Don’t get your hopes up though, this could have just been one member of staff toying with my emotions!
With the current ongoing pandemic in the United Kingdom right now I certainly would think the store would be live in a matter of weeks (if not sooner).
It’s a great way for the park to get a little bit of income whilst they’re closed during this uncertain time.
If they want to really bring in some decent income thou I’d certainly start selling unique collector’s pieces.
Once in a lifetime items that once they’re gone, they’re gone. A celebration of epic proportions to unveil the store and leapfrog the competition.
For me Blackpool Pleasure Beach is winning in the online merchandise game. They’re much more affordable and have a much wider range of items on offer compared to Alton Towers.
I’d be interested to see what Thorpe Park bring to the table.
They’ve certainly had long enough to plan it!
UPDATE – June 1st, 2020
