Valhalla at Blackpool Pleasure Beach “Here to Stay” Confirms MD

Valhalla Water Ride Blackpool

Valhalla at Blackpool Pleasure Beach is here to stay confirms Managing Director Amanda Thompson.

Rumours have been circulating that Valhalla may be closing for good or standing and not operating for the 2020 season.

The dark ride that opened in 2000 is easily the best water ride in the country. So to hear this news came as quite a shock to many of the Pleasure Beach’s enthusiasts. The ride however does have very high maintenance and operation costs so this will need to be addressed.

The sheer size of the ride in addition to the electricity needed to power the ride and its special effects must be staggering. I heard a rumour that the rapids at Alton Towers are by far the most expensive ride to run in the park. I can only imagine what Valhalla costs to run!

Thompson said in a Twitter post regarding speculation of the rides closure for 2020:

“Certainly nothing has been decided yet. We are looking at ways to reimagine the ride, but more importantly we are looking at trying to make it more sustainable. Sustainability is essential for the future of this ride. I can assure you Valhalla is here to stay.”

Phew, we can breath a sigh of relief. I’m certainly looking forward to seeing what direction they take the ride in as they move forward.
