Valhalla Water Ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Delayed Until 2022

Valhalla Pleasure Beach 2022

Sadly news that we all feared was confirmed today as the Valhalla water ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach has been delayed until 2022.

Combining water, ice and fire in an elemental trio Valhalla is constantly a ride at the top of the world stage when it comes to dark rides / water rides.

Back in December 2020 Blackpool Pleasure Beach announced that Valhalla was undergoing a reimagining in order to keep its extortionately high costs down and to make the ride more sustainable for the future.

With all of the craziness that 2020 has brought us work was still taking place just a little before the lockdown and most recently over the last few weeks.

Yesterday Amanda Thompson posted a tweet of a Valhalla sign that is situated around the construction panels that have been erected around the ride area.

This sign used to have ‘Opening 2021’ underneath it and in the latest picture this tagline was missing. Speculation ensued but it wasn’t looking good for a 2021 reopening.

Today the inevitable was confirmed.

We knew that a reopening next year would be slim due to the lockdown restrictions and sadly that news was confirmed today by Amanda Thompson who released the following image with the tagline ‘Brave the Adventure’ with a 2022 release date underneath.

It has also come to my attention that Adam Slevin who has worked on various effects on numerous roller coasters is helping with the Valhalla reimagining in quite a large capacity.

Whilst it’s a real shame that the ride couldn’t be opened in time for Pleasure Beach’s 125th anniversary it makes me wonder just what on earth the park will have in store for next year to mark such an occasion.

As it stands you can purchase commemorative bricks for an anniversary wall they are creating but let’s be realistic, there’s certainly something else in store for such a prestigious birthday.

Whilst sadly Valhalla will be watching the party from the back of the room we can only hope that 2021 flies by and we can experience this absolute world beater once again in 2022 with all the new changes.

With a whole year to transform this ride it still keeps my excitement going for its opening date and any updates we receive between then and now in regards to the ongoing reimagine will be reported right here on Lift Hills and Thrills.
