Alton Towers has launched an incredibly retro teaser showcasing the Alton Towers RetroSquad, three brand new funfair rides at the park for 2021 with a 1980’s throwback.
With the 1980s video being arguably the most impressive video I’ve seen from towers in many many seasons this incredible feature shows off the three brand new funfair rides sent from space as Transformer style robots to Alton Towers.
41 years ago a message asking for help to bring more funktastic thrills for the nation to enjoy was sent out into the galaxy and the cry for help was answered by The Retro Squad, 3 wickedly awesome, fairground-inspired and totally 80′ rides: Mixtape – Roller Disco and Funk’n’Fly!
Together they set course for ATR but never arrived and the memory of them got lost in time…. Until now cause these totally rad rides have officially landed!
So, don’t miss your chance to spin back to the 80’s and join in the retrotastic thrill vibes and prepare to bounce, slide and fly and once you’re done…. just wig out! Cowabunga – You’re officially part of the Retro Squad!
We have Mixtape, Roller Disco and Funk’n’Fly (the RetroSquad).
Firstly Mixtape is a Smashing Jump funfair ride, Roller Disco is a Waltzers ride and finally, we have Funk’n’Fly which is a Super Trooper ride.
There is also a Twister on site but this wasn’t listed on the website or as part of the press release.
The Twister resides in David Walliams World and was leaked on social media only a week ago.
This ride could be delayed until Gangsta Granny opens up in May as another robot ride is beamed down to the park for yet another wonderful marketing video.

With this screenshot above taken from the Alton Towers Trailer, you can see a list of rides that are being sent to earth.
Spinjam seems like the most logical ride on that list that could be a Twister ride so stay tuned for that one!

Francis Jackson, general manager at Alton Towers said the following:
“We are committed to creating fun and thrills for families and thrill-seekers and the new retro experiences are different to anything we offer on the theme park.
“We have introduced a series of new outdoor attractions which are included in the price of a theme park ticket offering guests a nostalgic spin-back to the 80s, which provides an exciting addition which we’re sure our guests will love.
“We are delighted to announce that the new outdoor attractions will be available from when we open on April 12.
“Safety is our number one priority and as well as number of robust health and hygiene measures, we will continue to operate on a reduced capacity when we open, therefore we have strategically placed the new rides around the theme park to help us ensure guests are dispersed and social distancing can be maintained.”
