Alton Towers have today announced the opening of a brand new exhibition at the theme park for a limited time this summer.
The exhibition will allow guests to take a peek inside the Alton Towers archive in a museum style pop-up that will be hosted within The Chapel area of the Towers ruins themselves.
As part of the exhibition there will be a specially curated selection of artwork, memorabilia and treasured artefacts spanning over 200 years of Alton Towers history.
This is certainly something that fans have been crying out for. It’s long been demanded that Alton Towers should have a permanent museum for all of their archives located within the park and whilst this isn’t at that level just yet it’s great that the park have put this on for a limited time and best of all, it’s included within the general admission ticket.
Now whilst I feel the theme park is still miles behind where it should be things have moved forward step by step with teeny tiny positives being implemented since the arrival of the new Vice President Howard Ebison.
Things that cost very little for the park to implement but are of great reward to guests are being implemented such as removing the vinyl off the monorail windows and adding small theming improvements to rides that desperately need it.
It’s things that are a no brainer for fans but have been overlooked for many years within the park and whilst it’s still in quite a state of disrepair in many areas the park are trying and this is certainly a great way to bring people into the park and to celebrate its history.
The Alton Towers Exhibition will run from 18 July – 28 August 2026 and will open from 11am daily.
Let’s hope this is a trial run of a more permanent venue within the park in the future.
