Nemesis Rollercoaster Maintenance Application Submitted by Alton Towers

Nemesis ReTrack

Alton Towers has today submitted an application for Nemesis Rollercoaster maintenance which consists of a nemesis retrack at the Staffordshire theme park.

It was a year ago that we reported on the rumour regarding the Nemesis re-tracking / overhaul.

Today this has been partially confirmed as the park have submitted an application to confirm the lawfulness of maintenance works to Nemesis.

This application is awaiting validation and no other documents have been released.

To apply for lawfulness of maintenance work usually is a good indication of quite extensive work planned to take place.

The use of cranes / heavy machinery are usually included in applications such as this and this application further reinforces the rumour that we posted all that time ago.

Whilst the exact work to be taking place hasn’t been confirmed by the park I will now reveal a conversation that I had with a member of staff way that led to me posting the original article in the first place.

A team member who shall not be named discussed the following with various members of the public during a gardens visit over lockdown.

The following will not be word for word quoted but the main idea / plan moving forward should be more clearer from the information shared.

Nemesis will be undergoing a huge overhaul with a re-track planned at this stage.

Forbidden Valley and Nemesis itself may potentially be getting re-themed entirely.

This will mean the ride (and potentially the area) will be out for a season but the ride remains part of big plans of Alton Towers future and the coaster will remain for a long time.

This entire re-brand / re-track could also include the Nemesis Sub Terra building and this could potentially pave the way for SW9 as Forbidden Valley was the rumoured area in which the new coaster would be added.

The area in question is the large car park next to Galactica which stretches down to Extraordinary Golf.

Now this is just my ramblings and once again not confirmed by Alton Towers but with the application now being a solid piece of evidence supporting the rumours from one year ago there is now concrete evidence of something taking place.

It’s time to get excited!

I’ll dial my expectations down as it would be the most Alton Towers thing ever if the Nemesis rollercoaster maintenance plan involved the coaster completely re-tracked and re-themed and then marketed as SW9.

Hopefully they won’t be so lazy but what exciting news to start the year!

This page will be updated with more information as and when further documents come to light.

Update January 24th –

Following the application announcement documents have been uploaded to the application which state that the majority of the coasters track will be replaced including 89 of the 117 columns.

Minor cosmetic work will be taking place on the theming and 636 bolts are to be removed, replaced and re-grouted.

The track will also be sand filled to reduce noise levels to benefit the site and surrounding area.

The maintenance building, photo booth, queue-line, access steps will all be retained and no trees will be removed from the area nor will there be any changes in levels on the site.
