The rollercoasters of Alton Towers will be celebrated in style as they awaken this Spring for the Festival of Thrills.

The resort’s big 7 rollercoasters will have their own live music playing out at this adrenaline-inducing event.

Alton Towers Resort is preparing to kick-off its thrilliant programme of events with a brand-new celebration of the Resort’s awesome, world-class rollercoasters as they reawaken for the ‘Festival of Thrills’ and are brought to life like never before: in an immersive burst of performances and live music.

Each of the Resort’s big seven rollercoasters will come alive as a visual and audio representation for guests to enjoy thanks to a series of bands, musicians and performers set on a series of stages located at each attraction.

From midday each day, Nemesis, Oblivion, Wicker Man, Rita, TH13TEEN, Galactica and The Smiler will each come alive through the roar of the coasters, live music and performers. Represented by a music genre that links to the coasters theme and story, from Electro Pop and synth, Grunge and Pop Rock, as well as Drum and Bass to Gothic Pop Classical, the celebration is set to hit the high notes for families and thrillseekers alike. Acoustic folk-rock, Dance and Indie folk will also be on offer as bands take centre stage at the Resort.

The bands and accompanying performers from the ride will battle it out providing must-see entertainment throughout the day.

Guests will be able to enjoy the following:

Forbidden Valley

  • Nemesis – Join The Junkers who have survived on music since the alien attack, featuring LUNAFALL, a grunge and pop rock band formed to celebrate the Nemesis creature falling to earth.
  • Galactica – The manufactured Galactica Airways AI droids will be on hand to wish you a pleasant flight, alongside the Electro Pop and Synth songs from StacÆ 3

Other events coming to Alton Towers in 2022 are as follows.

Mardi Gras (May 21 – June 19)

Alton Towers Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras is back for 2022 and if only for the food we’re glad it’s back but this time there’s a brand-new unique bar experience not to be missed!

The carnival takeover of the park will be back again along with delicious food as this event was certainly a flavour explosion back in 2021.

Oktoberfest (September 10 – October 2)

Oktoberfest returns as one of the parks most popular events and Alton Towers are promising to make it bigger and better than ever!

This bodes well for us as last years event not only stretched across the main lawn but right into Mutiny Bay with stage performances, Oktoberfest food and a Wunderbar!

Scarefest (October 7– 9 and 14 – 30)

15th Anniversary Alton Towers Scarefest

The park this year is celebrating 15 years of Scarefest and whilst not many details have been released of the event we’re expecting to see a new maze added to the line-up.

Duel is also celebrating a big anniversary so it’ll be interesting to see if the park go all out and celebrate this beautiful indoor dark ride.

Open until 9pm each day, daring guests can face head-spinning, hair-raising rides and attractions in darkness including Wicker Man and the Alton Towers Dungeon!

Fireworks (November 4-6)

Alton Towers fireworks were certainly a highlight of last years Alton Towers calendar and once again this event is not to be missed.

Watch the historic Towers brought to life as the astonishing display will dazzle guests with electrifying bursts, bangs and howls of amazing fireworks to music, lights and live-action storytelling.

Christmas (selected dates from November 25 – January 1)

Alton Towers Lightopia 2021

Christmas at Alton Towers was certainly stepped up last year with the addition of the first-ever Alton Towers Christmas market and Lightopia walkthrough light show.

Both attractions are set to be returning in 2022 which is great news for all of those who not only visited last year but didn’t get the chance to.

Chris Carter, Events and Entertainments Director at Alton Towers Resort, said:

“This year we are hosting even more non-stop fun and thrills for families and thrill-seekers throughout the season. We are thrilled to be celebrating 15 years of Scarefest, as well as seeing the return of our hugely popular Mardi Gras, Oktoberfest events and our mind-blowingly awesome fireworks show. We’re also excited to be bringing something brand new for our guests.

All of our events this year will be bigger and better than ever – we’re bringing a great mix of rollercoasters, live entertainment and fabulous food and drink, plus so much more!

We remain committed to creating a much-needed form of escapism for families and thrill-seekers across the UK and beyond. We are so excited to be welcoming guests back to the Resort and to share our incredible line-up of seasonal entertainment, which we’re sure our guests will love.”
