Flamingo Land SIK Roller Coaster Name Revealed

Flamingo Land Ten Inversion Coaster

In what many enthusiasts was hoping was a very late April Fools prank it seems a prank it was not as Flamingo Land’s brand new 10 inversion coaster will officially be called SIK.

This multi-million-pound ride has been on our radar for quite some time (see our construction updates HERE) with delay after delay. Finally, the horizon isn’t far ahead with Summer 2022 tipped to be the opening date for this new attraction.

This £18M project will officially be called SIK in honour of Sik Silk, a known fashion brand in the local area that already makes the theme park’s uniforms.

The footage was released today showing the first test run POV footage of the ride and the pacing and speed of this new coaster look impressive.

The heartline rolls look intense and for some, it really might make them ‘sik’ so the ride’s name might be quite appropriate.

A spokesperson for the park commented on the new ride name:

We are proud to announce that we are working with our great friends at Sik Silk, a well-known world fashion brand with very local links.

The owner of Flamingo Land and Sik Silk Gordon Gibb and Sam Kay, David Johnston and Barry Gill have been friends for years and they wanted to join their two successful local brands and tell their respective stories in an exciting project, and what better backdrop than a new world class roller coaster.

Both companies are a true British success story with very local roots. Sik Silk based in Scarborough with the three3 owners being born and bred there and started their company from one of their bedrooms on a Scarborough Council Estate.
