After some meticulous research was uploaded yesterday on YouTube suggesting a Universal Studios Great Britain theme park was heading to the UK it was today officially confirmed by Universal that the findings are in fact correct!
In what has been a very exciting 24 hours since the video was released from Orlando Park Stop suggesting that land in Bedford and domain names for a Universal Studios Great Britain theme park had been purchased with solid evidence to support those claims.
Social media went crazy at the thought of a Universal Studios park right here in the UK and today Universal confirmed to the Bedford Independent who reached out for comment:
“We recently acquired land in Bedford [Borough] and are at the early stages of exploring its feasibility for a potential park and resort at this site.
It will be many months before we are ready to make a decision to proceed and we look forward to engaging with all relevant stakeholders and the local community.”
They went onto confirm that no creative content of the park has been determined and stressed they are still very early in planning this potential project despite stating that the UK is an ideal destination for them.
They said that no creative content of the park has yet been determined and stressed that “we are still very early in planning this potential project”.
The company confirmed that it is always on the lookout for new park locations around the world and with a large population, strong creative industries, thriving tourism and transportation infrastructure at the heart of Europe, the UK is an ideal destination.
Further commenting:
“We support Bedford’s vision of becoming a prosperous place to live, work and visit and we take a proactive approach to partnering with local communities and stakeholders, like Bedford Borough Council, when pursuing potential projects.”
Located 30 mins from the Harry Potter Studios near Watford and close to Oxford and Cambridge this particular plot of land is close to all travel outlets and with a rumoured 500 acres acquired makes for one exciting prospect.
In the Bedford article it states that 240 acres have been purchased but Universal acquired a company called Cloud Wing UK who have other assets in that area equating to around 500 acres of space.
The Kempston Hardwick New Settlement is close to public transport and the M1.
The UK amusement and theme park sector has boomed to an estimated worth of just shy of a billion pounds in 2023 (£972.7m).
If this project came to fruition there would be a well themed and immersive theme park that would stand head and shoulders above over offerings in the UK.
With Merlin being the monopoly shareholder of UK theme parks and attractions it would force them to invest and bring even bigger and better attractions to compete with such high profile competition.
This is a very exciting time for theme park fans and we only hope that this project moves full steam ahead with all of the UK support behind it!
Keeps those fingers crossed!
