Today the Hyperia opening date was announced by Thorpe Park along with the first look at the brand new shark cabin accommodation themed around the brand new ride.
Knocking Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach off its pedestal Hyperia will officially be the UK’s tallest coaster with a height of 236 feet.
This new UK record-breaking rollercoaster will officially be opening on May 24th which marks Thorpe Park’s birthday as the park was officially opened back on May 24th, 1979.
Hyperia is 995.4m long and has a top speed of 80mph making it the UK’s fastest rollercoaster too.
Neil Poulter, Divisional Director at Thorpe Park, revealed:
Hyperia has been years in the making and we know our fans and followers from all over the world have been waiting with baited breath for us to announce the opening date!
We’re delighted to now be able to reveal that guests will be able to enjoy the UK’s tallest, fastest and most weightless rollercoaster from 24 May 2024 which also happens to mark Thorpe Park’s 45th birthday!
What better way to mark our milestone birthday than by unveiling our most epic and record-breaking ride to date! We can’t wait to celebrate our most thrilling season here at Thorpe Park with as many guests as possible.
Not only did they announce the rides opening date but a brand new ‘Golden Ticket’ which for £49 allows guests to visit Thorpe Park twice in a season. Once for dates up to May 23rd (before Hyperia opens) and once for dates from May 24th to September 30th (after Hyperia opens).
If you’re looking for a staycation, Thorpe Shark Cabins now also have Hyperia-themed rooms but the photos released don’t show the backstory of Hyperia that is plastered all over the bathroom door, it’s well worth a read if you’re a little on the nerdy side like me!
A stay at the Hyperia Shark Cabins also includes a single-use Fasttrack ticket on the ride, ensuring you get your fix early on, cutting out those pesky queues!
Hyperia Backstory
Hyperia was the daughter of an ancient river god, and her fear of water imprisoned her on the island she called home.
She refused to be defined by her fear and embarked on a quest to fashion her own wings which would allow her to escape the island
With unyielding determination, she toiled tirelessly, crafting wings of steel that would grant her the ability to soar through the skies.
Once her wings were complete. Summoning all of her courage, she valiantly leaped into the void.
Miraculously, the wings responded to her will, carrying her higher into the sky. Hyperia found herself flying, soaring above the very water that once imprisoned her.
As she glided through the clouds, Hyperia felt an exhilaration she had never known. She was free, and the world below her stretched out like a tapestry of endless possibilities.
From that day forward, Hyperia’s fearlessness knew no bounds.
Hyperia had conquered her fear of water by defying it, she became a legend, a symbol of triumph over adversity, and a testament to the power that lies within each and every person to overcome their deepest fears.
