Mahuka: Europe’s First Single Rail Roller Coaster!

Mahuka Walibi Rhone Alps

The new Mahuka single-rail attraction from Intamin is set to open at Walibi Rhône-Alpes opens on June 15.

This highly anticipated attraction is unique in Europe and is surrounded by a brand new themed area called Exotic Island. Mahuka marks the 45th anniversary of the park and the development has cost more than ten million euros.

Exotic Island consists of the main attraction, lush theming as well as a brand new restaurant named Tiki Fruits.

Mahuka has consisted of two years of design and construction work and is the perfect addition to the park to celebrate this glorious anniversary.

Mahuka Walibi

Only the second of its type in the world this Intamin coaster is themed around 4×4 style trains in a single-row fashion allowing you to enjoy the experience without being overlooked, it’s just you and you alone facing your emotions.

Mahuka means ‘escape’ in Hawaiian as guests step into the shoes of an archaeologist with a unique adventure afoot to those who dare to reach the abandoned temple built around the god of fire.

The temple is isolated on an island in the South Pacific and brave adventurers will have to escape the wrath of the fire good before they end up as prisoners.

Mahuka features stunningly custom-themed trains and allows riders to experience high comfort and freedom using Intamin’s highly successful LSM seat design, widely considered one of the most comfortable coaster seats on the market.

The seats have a padding to accommodate riders as small as 120cm (4ft) and with the single-seat configuration riders can get off and on very quickly increasing boarding and disembarking times.

Thrilling elements combine with a small footpath making this the perfect rollercoaster to fit into tight spaces, if I was working at Blackpool Pleasure Beach looking at a Grand Prix footprint (once removed) a single rail would easily fit right in here and could even be directed down towards FY4 and the casino buildings.
