Alton Towers Resort has this morning unveiled the brand new name for their new ride along with a whole host of new ride details.

Toxicator is the official name for the new ride as this 2025 addition will subject thrillseekers to centrifugal forces and extreme spin patterns.

Standing at 78ft tall (atop a 16ft platform) not only will guests have a fun experience on the ride but guests will be able to enjoy the views of the ride in a whole new way as on this particular occasion you can walk underneath the ride whilst it’s operating.

Located in Forbidden Valley at Alton Towers the ride has been developed with a storyline that involves experimentation on the Nemesis creature which ties into the lore of the area.

Alton Towers fireworks back in 2024 were wholly focused on this backstory and mentioned a whole host of experiments undertaken on Nemesis for research purposes.

The ride can accommodate more than 500 riders per hour and guests are seated back-to-back before being flipped and spun around before being held face down above a ‘bubbling pool of highly toxic alien acid’ also known as water.

It is the latest technology from the shadowy organisation known as The Phalanx and is used by them to extract and separate toxic saliva from the Nemesis creature.

Fountains will be positioned on both sides of the ride with a green effect mimicking the acid and giving guests a nostalgic throwback to when Ripsaw did the same thing in Forbidden Valley when it opened in 1997.

Toxicator will have a height restriction of 1.4m and is the only topspin in the world to be elevated above ground level.

A trailer for the ride was released on social media today as we discuss in the video below:

Bianca Sammut, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort, said:

Alton Towers is renowned for consistently delivering new and reimagined thrills for our fans and as the UK’s only topspin ride, we’re excited to welcome Toxicator to the park.

We can’t wait to challenge thrillseekers to submit to the spin. Located in the heart of Forbidden Valley, this is the latest chapter in the Nemesis story which has captivated generations of thrillseekers worldwide.

We’re not yet ready to reveal precisely when Toxicator will turn your world upside down, but rest assured the wait will be worth it.

I’m not sure why the park is leaning so much into resurrection / reimagining old rides as of late but a new ride at Alton Towers is never a bad thing.

Unfortunately, the news is bittersweet for fans as three rides were removed from Alton Towers as announced by the park late last year which consisted of The Blade (also located in Forbidden Valley) which was the longest operating ride at the park.

The Dungeons and Favio’s Fabulous Fandango (located in David Walliams World) were also announced to be removed permanently in that very same announcement.
