Alton Towers is celebrating its 40th birthday today and to celebrate they have released a range of Alton Towers 40th Anniversary merchandise.
It’s a shame that under current circumstances fans can’t celebrate this milestone anniversary at the theme park. The whole world has been completely transformed in 2020 and staying inside is getting more and more tiresome by the day.
Thankfully parks like Alton Towers are drip-feeding us just enough things to get us by and have us looking forward to the day when they’re back open.
Even having a piece of merchandise sent from the park brings a little bit of that Alton Towers magic to your front door.

Probably going to need something alcoholic in here after seeing this merchandise line-up.
The printing doesn’t look great on this mug either, not even a full wrap-around.
Alton Towers have some of the best-designed roller coaster mugs in the UK what on earth is going on with this one?!
T-Shirt
Standard T-Shirt with the 40th Anniversary logo printed on.
Nothing too fancy, can’t complain about this one. The logo is cool.
Pen
Your bog-standard pen.
For the millennials out there this device Is what people used to write with in the olden days before phones and keyboards were invented.

I like this one, a nice full-color wraparound unlike the mug with a nice red top and the Logo looks great.
Certainly my favorite item out of this particular lacklustre range.

A standard notepad. For our millennial readers out there, inside this book contains pages. You combine the pen with the pages to create hand-writing. Sadly you’ll have to draw the emoji’s yourselves.
Ride Challenge T-Shirt
Which is the better coaster, Thirteen or Corkscrew? Said no one ever.
I’ll say no more than that.
Everything in this milestone range looks very basic, unfortunately.
I thought there would be more unique celebratory items. It is a big occasion after all.
Unique items and even a collector’s piece would have been nice.
Alton Towers may have something up its sleeve for later in the year so I’ll hold fire on that idea for now.
Not even a pin to celebrate. Tut, tut.
A little resin model of the corkscrew with the 40th Anniversary logo on or even a unique piece of commissioned artwork to celebrate the 40th Anniversary.
Anything like that would have been lovely.
Imagine if you had been married 40 years and were given a pen to celebrate it. You’d be a little annoyed, wouldn’t you?
I hope they step it up in the weeks to come. Even thou the park is shut it would be nice to have something unique and memorable to celebrate such a wonderful occasion.
It would be nice to even see the Alton Towers mystery boxes back again.
Throw in items that just cannot be found online or a themed mystery box per individual ride.
Step it up Alton Towers!
Commemorate the history of the park in a more exciting way. It’s the perfect time to push merchandise and whilst everything else in the store is superb this anniversary collection is a little dull to say the least.
It’ll be a purchase for nostalgia sake and nostalgia alone.
