Tayto Park Roller Coaster Plans Suffer Another Setback

Tayto Park Roller Coaster

I feel as though we should be copying and pasting this title at the moment as Tayto Park has suffered yet another roller coaster setback.

With plans to construct a brand new roller coaster costing €15.5 million local residents have loged an appeal against Meath Co Council’s approval to give them the green light.

The theme park claim that without the roller coaster its long term-future may be in doubt.

The complaints were as follows:

Noise

Initially the board refused permission for the project due to the potential noise of customers screaming on the coaster.

Plans were revised to introduce noise reduction. Roller coaster makers Vekoma drafted up 14 seperate noise reduction plans.

The ride itself would be a 31m high Suspended Thrill Coaster and a 24.2m high Family Boomerang ride that would intertwine.

Designers switched the track layout to direct noise away from housing and included three underground tunnel sections, trees, shrubbery and a 6m high, 100m-long sound barrier.

The local residents still complained and said it was the same as the first plan submitted when it was clearly not.

Concerns

The two objectors also contended that the roller coaster would have a negative long-term impact on their peaceful home enjoyment and protection of the natural environment.

Overall

We hope Tayto Park can sort this issue out as soon as possible and have a brand new roller coaster to be proud of added to their rather unique and wonderful park.
