Drayton Manor has invited guests to come down to ride Pandemonium at Drayton Manor for the last time as the Fabbri ride is set for pastures new.
Long before the YouTube page when Lift Hills and Thrills first started as a website back in November 2019 one of our first stories was the announcement that Apocalypse, Pandemonium and even Shockwave were rumoured to be leaving the Tamworth theme park.
A few months later The Looping Group took over the park and invested heavily in sprucing up the park and introducing the brand new Adventure Cove area of the park with the rejuvenated rapids ride re-opened to the public, a new play area for children and food outlets.
As part of the Adventure Cove expansion heavy work was taking place on the Shockwave building as the whole station building received a colourful paint job to blend in with the Adventure Cove rapids area.
With so much work taking place on the Shockwave station building it was safe to say that this rumour quickly disapparated.
For Apocalypse and Pandemonium, however, the story is a little different.
Both rides were put up for sale this year on the same website and although both rides haven’t been sold yet (unless they haven’t updated the website in a while) Drayton Manor today announced Pandemonium’s departure.
Drayton posted the following on their blog this morning:
Since opening in 2004, the gravity-defying Pandemonium has been one of our most thrilling attractions, with its infamous swinging gondolas sending passengers soaring at a full 360 turn.
But sadly, all good things must come to an end.
From Friday 28 October to Sunday 31 October, we’re inviting brave ride fans to experience Pandemonium’s heart-racing pendulum swing, before it closes to pave the way for exciting new developments to the park.
As part of Looping Group’s significant investment plans, Pandemonium’s closure will enable us to continue to expand our offering and make our resort an even better destination for theme park fans, young and old.
Going out with a bang, riders will be able to enjoy their final swing on Pandemonium during the epic BRIT’tastic Fireworks Extravaganza weekend, which takes place on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 October, and features an awe-inspiring fireworks and laser display for guests to enjoy, set to an upbeat soundtrack celebrating the very best of iconic British music.
A spokesperson from Drayton Manor Park, said:
“We know how much our brave riders have loved boarding Pandemonium since we first opened it 17 years ago, so we’re calling all thrill seekers to enjoy one last chance to ride this weekend!
While it’s the end of an era for Pandemonium, we have big plans in the pipeline to expand our offering and make the park as exciting as possible for our guests, and we can’t wait to reveal the new developments for 2022.”
The rumour mill is once again churning regarding Drayton Manor from Universal Studios staff members being spotted on site in recent months up to manufacturers including S&S and Zamperla being tipped to install the next big attraction at the Tamworth theme park.
Whatever happens, I’m sure we’ll be finding out all about it next season.
Drayton Manor is looking the best it has in many, many years and The Looping Group have ambitious plans to make Drayton Manor its flagship park.
Stay tuned for updates.
