Fly with the elves at Efteling Droomvlucht this March as refurbishment is complete and the park has shared some behind-the-scenes updates for us ahead of its reopening.
Droomvlucht has been closed for major maintenance since October 31, 2022. An enormous amount of work has been done in the past four months. A large part of this is invisible but there are some aspects of the ride which will be on display for all to see.

The park has a total of 28 gondolas inside Droomvlucht that transport up to 8500 people and the 425-metre-long track suffered some wear and tear. 260 of those steel pieces were manually replaced between the ‘spine’ and ‘running pipes’ of the track.
Clothes on certain animatronics have been refreshed and replaced along with a good beard trimming for King Oberon and just general upkeep of all characters within the ride.

Old halogen lamps have been replaced by new energy-efficient LED lamps (543 of them to be exact). These lamps are more durable and can apply better colour nuances making the ride even more atmospheric without deviating too much from the original colour schemes.
The trolls are back under the rain once again as parts of the ride that weren’t working previously have been now being restored and brought back to life and flowers and plants have been partly refreshed bringing a whole new vibrance back to this wonderful attraction.

From 10 am on March 4 the ride will be reopened to guests with only the Celestial Castle scene being unfinished as of the time of writing this article. The team are working around the clock to get it restored before its grand reopening although they’re currently uncertain if they will meet this deadline.
