Andy’s Adventures Dinosaur Dig Alton Towers Review

Andy's Adventures Dinosaur Dig Alton Towers

We finally got to check out the latest interactive show in CBeebies Land as we bring you this Andy’s Adventures Dinosaur Dig Alton Towers review!

Immerse yourself in prehistoric sights and sounds, and see what you can dig and discover in this live interactive show!

You’ll be able to visit Andy’s outpost and explore the prehistoric dig site; unearth fossils and have them analysed in the fossilator; help build a new exhibit with the outpost curator and learn all about their discoveries!

Our journey begins in a courtyard style setting with a fossil sitting in the centre of the area and a futuristic machine standing at the front.

Consisting of two bubbly actors we are introduced to the area and the first mission for the children to do is find fossils dotted around the small courtyard space which then must be placed into the fossilator. A machine that will scan the fossils and determine what creature has been discovered.

Kids were running around the area and enjoyed putting the fossils into the machine and once that was done Andy appears on a screen link talking to the kids and the lead explorer (one of the actors).

This section was done rather well as the scripted dialogue was in-sync with what Andy replied to in a pre-programmed message and from that perspective the effect of a live conversation was well sold.

From here we go inside a small building which was very cramped for the group numbers that were allowed to watch the show. Inside we watch the actors sing a song, meet an animatronic (puppet) dinosaur which was very detailed and meet our second lead explorer who helped to get the kids smiling and having a good time.

I found the show as a whole to be engaging but there certainly seemed like there was something missing. This is definitely a show for the kids as all the adults around the place looked a little lost and awkward and ready to go to the next attraction.

The actors certainly put in the effort to sell the show but the script felt a little wooden and some of the things the kids had to sing along with were a little difficult for the age group the show is targeted at.

Whilst it’s a great little addition to CBeebies and the dinosaur puppet certainly looked the part I think it fell short in many areas.

For an attraction that takes up such a short area, it does the job but upon leaving I just felt that something was severely lacking.

I think the best bit about the whole attraction is the Dinosaur Dig mobile (pictured in the cover photo) that drives around CBeebies Land interacting with guests. It looks great and draws a crowd every time.
